About Silicones

Performance properties

Silicones bring unique performances and properties that make them the material of choice for countless essential applications in our day-to-day lives. They can make materials that do not want to stick together adhere. They are thermally stable meaning they retain their properties under high thermal stress (which means severe temperature changes). They help cool systems down, insulate, lubricate, protect and much more!

UV STABILITY

UV rays can’t break down silicones due to their UV-resistant properties. The UV does not contain significant energy to split the SI-O, silicone bond. Because of this, silicones won’t deteriorate during long exposure to sunlight. This is why silicones can provide UVB and UVA protection.

Combined with other performance properties, silicones are often used in sun cosmetic lotions, sprays, and gels, as these products need to be oil-free, non-greasy, easily absorbed without leaving a film or residue, and water-resistant.
