About Silicones

Performance properties

Silicones bring unique performances and properties that make them the material of choice for countless essential applications in our day-to-day lives. They can make materials that do not want to stick together adhere. They are thermally stable meaning they retain their properties under high thermal stress (which means severe temperature changes). They help cool systems down, insulate, lubricate, protect and much more!

NONFLAMABILITY

Silicones can come along with excellent flame retardant properties without the use of hazardous flame retardants. Special formulations even pass severe tests for the use as safety cables, e. g. in airports and other critical infrastructure.

In addition, silicones allow the use of high tracking resistant mouldable materials as silicone rubber joints for high voltage underground power lines. Silicone fluids due to their high thermal stability are used as insulator fluids and heat transfer fluids in solar power plants.

Examples of applications

Laptop batteries
Airport safety cables
High & medium voltage insulators
